Shoulder Pain and Auto Injury

If you are suffering from shoulder pain after a car crash, don't despair. Dr. Vinick sees this type of problem frequently in our Redondo Beach office. Let's take a look at why shoulder pain is commonly experienced after an auto collision and see how chiropractic can help you recover.

There are at least two different ways that you can get shoulder pain after an accident: by direct trauma to the shoulder joint or by radiating pain from the neck.

Direct injury can be caused by hitting your shoulder on a hard object in the car during the crash, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end crash. With this type of injury, you'll often be aware of the pain shortly after the crash.

More commonly, Dr. Vinick finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn't immediately appear after a crash, but starts a few days or weeks after the accident. This type of shoulder pain actually starts in the neck. Injured muscles or ligaments in your neck can tweak nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've treated many types of shoulder pain in our Redondo Beach office. This approach involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural flexibility and home exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

You don't have to suffer from shoulder pain. Dr. Vinick is conveniently located in Redondo Beach to help you recover, whether you've been in an auto collision or not. The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis to determine what's causing your pain and then we will determine an appropriate treatment approach.
